Pearl Harbor ....December 7, 1941
Is America still vulnerable to attack from a foreign force ? Yes.
Please see Jeremiah Chapters 50 and 51.
A limited nuclear war has been forseen for a long time.
Not from the East, but from 'the North'.
What do we learn from the above ?
That our adversaries plan well in advance and catch us unawares.
That the U.S. was attacked so that we would not be able to interfere in another war elsewhere.
That " it is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed " -- Lamentations 3: 22

"One of these is the Bulava, a submarine-launched long-range nuclear missile which Putin says will be capable of penetrating any missile defenses -- a reference to Washington's plans for a new global system to shoot down hostile rockets.
..... The navy pronounced the latest Bulava exercise on September 18 ( 2008 ) a success, saying the missile flew from the White Sea across Russia to
the Far East. "

Not just Pearl Harbor, but throughout the Pacific
Date of Infamy speech by FDR given on December 8, 1941:
" The attack yesterday on the Hawaiian Islands has caused severe damage to American naval and military forces. Very many American lives have been lost. In addition American ships have been reported torpedoed on the high seas between San Francisco and Honolulu.

" by Christmas virtually all of the Pacific was under enemy control "
Singapore attacked same time as Pearl Harbor ; British RAF
But the effectiveness of the Japanese was shown when they captured the capital of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, on January 11th 1942
The element of surprise ... preemptive attack
Farther to the west, the Japanese struck at Hong Kong, Malaysia and Thailand in a coordinated attempt to use surprise in order inflict as much damage as quickly as possible to strategic targets

USS Arizona Memorial, Pearl Harbor Hawaii
The USS Arizona is the final resting place for many of the ship's 1,177 crewmen who lost their lives on
December 7, 1941. The 184-foot-long Memorial structure spanning the mid-portion of the sunken battleship consists of three main sections: the entry and assembly rooms; a central area designed for ceremonies and general observation; and the shrine room, where the names of those killed on the Arizona are engraved on the marble wall.
The attack on Pearl Harbor was part of a grand strategy of conquest in the Western Pacific. The objective was to immobilize the Pacific Fleet so that the United States could not interfere with these invasion plans
On November 26, the Japanese attack fleet of 33 warships and auxiliary craft, including six aircraft carriers, sailed from northern Japan for the Hawaiian Islands. It followed a route that took it far to the north of the normal shipping lanes. By early morning, December 7, 1941, the ships had reached their launch position,

Joe Kawka remembers
Kawka, then 19, was a signalman on the destoyer Cassin, during the attack that thrust the United States into World War IIHe said he saw the battleship Arizona get bombed, resulting in an explosion and a fire that killed 1,177 crewmen, the greatest loss of life on any ship that day.
"I saw the bomb go right down the stack," he said.
The armor-piercing bomb ignited the Arizona's forward ammunition magazine.
Most of all, Kawka remembers the chaos during the attack that claimed 2,403 lives.
Kawka and the other crew members were ordered back to the Cassin. Then a second wave of 170 planes attacked. Kawka could see a pilot in the open cockpit. "He shook his hand at us as he went by," Kawka saidhttp://www.signonsandiego.com/news/military/20051207-9999-7m7pearl.html
