Hope To The End
Mark 12: 14 And when they were come, they said to him, "Master, we know that you are true, and care for no man: for you regard not the person of men, but teach the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?"
15 "Shall we give, or shall we not give?" But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, "Why do you tempt me? bring me a penny, that I may see it."
16 And they brought it. And he said to them, "Whose is this image and superscription?" And they said unto him, "Caesar's".
17 And Jesus answering said unto them, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." And they marvelled at him.
The hypocrits are still among us, so let's look at the foregoing dialoge and see what we can learn.
First of all, we know from the context that those asking the Lord the tax question were not sincerely seeking an answer. Their plan was to trap Him in His words. If he had said, "No - it is not lawful to pay tribute to Caesar", then it would have been a simple matter to call in some Roman soldiers and have Jesus arrested. That would have pleased the Pharisees. Conversely, if the Lord had said, "Yes, it is lawfull to pay tribute to Caesar", His following would have dissapated quickly. The people hated being under Roman subjugation, just as Americans today hate being under the heel of the IRS. The latter answer would have left the Lord with very few followers and that, too, would have pleased the Pharisees.
As it was, the Lord defeated their purpose and gave an answer that is as accurate and true today as it was when He first spoke it. And, His answer is as troubling and uncomfortable to hypocrits today as it was then.
First off, the Lord's answer requires everyone to make the determination as to what belongs to Caesar and what belongs to God. Making that determination requires one to assume responsibility for the decision. We all know how hypocrits hate responsibility. Assuming responsibility means that you can't blame someone else later. I find it amazing that God has preserved this same detail today. The IRS does not usually send out tax bills. They send out forms so that each individual can make the determination of what is "owed to Caesar."
Recall that Israel was subjugated by Rome because of their disobedience to God (Leviticus 26). America, although blessed tremendously by God, is now in open rebellion against Him. And America has also been subjugated by Rome. Roman Civil law now rules in our courts where formerly Bible-based Common Law ruled. The circulating medium of exchange has Caesar's name on it (Federal Reserve) and rightfully so - it belongs to Caesar. As everyone knows, a "note" is an evidence of a debt. The one who holds the note is the creditor. The one who owes the amount stated on the note is the debtor. The Federal Reserve System, a private banking cartel owned by foreigners, is the creditor. And so we see the words "FEDERAL RESERVE NOTE" along with a bank seal on each note. Also, we see the signatures of the Treasurer and Secretary of the Treasury on the note. These two people are America's agents or representives who sign the note on behalf of the American people. Their signature is the same as if each American had signed the note aknowledging the debt owed to the Federal Reserve.
The tax paid to the Federal Reserve is also identical with ancient Roman practice. It is a "tribute" because that is what you call the payment made by the conquered to the conquerer. It is used to support military activity in foreign countries; in effect, the conquered fund the expense of supporting the military that subjugates others as well as keeping them in chains. Taxes collected from first-century Jews might feed a Roman army in Egypt. Today, taxes collected from Americans feed U.N. armies all over the world as well as funding a police state at home.
So then, what was the Lord's
"Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's . ."
Very well, gather up all the Federal Reserve Notes and return them to the Federal Reserve. And don't forget to include all the "bank account money" (mere bookkeeping entries) since that amounts to about 90% of the total.
What would happen if every
God-fearing American did this?
Caesar would leave. America, of course, would have to revert back to her original, honest money system based on gold and silver. And would there be blessing? Oh yes indeed!
From time to time I have occassion to talk with "christians" about rendering unto Caesar. I get lots of rationalization and hypocricy. I have yet to hear an honest admission of guilt. If Christians truly intended to follow the Lord's instructions they would do something like the above. It would restore the Lord to His rightful position as the only King in America as well as end the suffering and death that they are funding with their "tax dollars."
Most "christians" are indeed ignorant of the true nature of money and credit, how banking systems work, and so on. The criminal aspect is the fact that most are willfully ignorant. They don't want to know these things because knowledge brings with it accountability. Hypocrits hate being held accountable. And this has necessitated a modification of Bible doctrine. The fact that every man's work will be tested (I Cor.3:12-15) and that ALL must stand and give an account to God (Rom.14:12) is something that must be ignored, glossed over, or openly repudiated. In a word, they pervert the scriptures. And one evil grows out of another.
With very few exceptions, the American "church" today is a State Church. It is literally created by the State through the issuance of a corporate license and regulated by the State under Title 26 USC, section 501c3. Title 26 is the Internal Revenue Code. So long as it is obedient to the State, the "church" receives the tax-exempt privilege, without which it could not support itself. This exempt status is very useful to the State because "churches" are big borrowers and that is good for the banking business. In order for the "church" to make payments to the banks, it must have an income and that in turn must come from the "church members", since they are the only ones in the equation that produce anything.
By contrast, the Body of Christ
does not pay taxes to Caesar or payments to bankers. The True
Church invests its wealth in the Lord's work, which is helping
people, not financing their destruction. The True Church in
America is sovereign and therefor not subject to tyrants and tax
collectors. She is sovereign because she is the Body and Bride of
the King of Kings. That's what the First Amendment to the
Constitution is all about,
"Congress shall make no law"......
There is one more point that needs to be mentioned, if not emphasized. The fundamental concept behind the Lord's instruction on rendering to Caesar is the concept of lordship. It ties in with truths like, "No man can serve two masters" and "Choose ye this day whom you will serve." The one who is Lord is the one that you fear as your sovereign, petition as your provider and accept as your lawgiver. If you fear before the tax man, run to the government when you are sick or unemployed, and yield to every government "law" without question, then Caesar is your Lord - despite rationalizations and protests to the contrary.
The first century Church
recognized Rome as Babylon (1 Peter 5:13). Now, more than ever,
God's call to His people is to, "Come out of her my people, that you
be not partakers of her sins" (Rev.18:4).
